Good morning sweet readers! Hope y’all are doing well. I am still in Panama City helping with my grandmother. Moma is such a fighter I’ll tell ya! Little fireball! She’ll be 92 in July and she’s is blind but that’s never stopped her.
Yesterday was good day, I walked in yesterday morning and she was alone AND feeding herself 🙌🏻 and drinking her coffee. She hasn’t been able to do that in a while. I was so proud of her. She was almost a member of the clean plate club, LOL.
No Hallucinations yesterday, we were told yesterday that it could have been from UTI. In the elderly it can somehow affect their mind. Nevertheless, dementia is an awful disease but I just pray we can get her to a better place. There is talk of her going to a rehab hospital, which sounds great but space is so limited here in Panama City because of the hurricane. Please pray for the right place for her opens up.
We greatly appreciate all your prayers.
Let’s get back on track now. This is an excerpt from one of my Al-Anon books.
“Live and let live” This was a scary slogan to me but as God lead me it brought me such peace. One person writes “Live and let live” I have an emotional acre to take care of. While its important to me to take care of the entire acre, it’s also important for me to not tend beyond those limits. This reminds me of how often I spend focusing on others feelings-trying to fix them or protect them- than on my own.”
I love this because I have been the great enabler for most of my life, doing things others should be doing for themselves. Have you ever struggled in this area? It’s not only not helpful to the other person but its harmful to you. It’s exhausting while also draining the life out of you.
But I’ve learned I’m not Holy Ghost junior and I can’t fix anyone….especially when they have no desire to change. If we keep trying to all it does is it hinders the other persons progress but it also prevents God from doing His mighty work. He knows what others need better than we do.
It’s not my responsibility to fix another person as much as we’d like too. Nor am I responsible for their happiness, I don’t have that kind of power BUT GOD DOES!!
I’ve learned too that when I was “tending to others” I wasn’t allowing God to work in me either and ONLY God can bring about change in another person.
Helping someone isn’t a bad thing, on the contrary helping and being a blessing is what we are called to do. It’s when it crosses over into “tending to others” who could do for themselves but simple don’t want to or care too. If we continue to enable a person or situation, the situation and we spiral out of control. Sadly I’ve been there a time or 2 or 100. LOL!
People need to feel the consequences of their choices, that’s not a bad thing. How else do we learn?
My friend, feelings are not a bad thing, but they are also not to be trusted. We can’t be lead by our emotions. We all go through good and bad and that’s what allows God’s perfect work in us.
And…..sometimes God is more interested in changing our hearts rather than changing our circumstances.
“Live and let live” WOW, how freeing!!! Thank you Lord!!
Have a wonderful day y’all! Big hugs,
