PLOW NEW GROUND FOR YOURSELVES

Hosea 10:12 says “Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and bring righteousness up on you.”

The expression “break up your fallow ground means, “Do not sow your seed among thorns”, break off all you’re evil habits; clear your hearts of weeds, in order that they may be prepared for the seed of righteousness.”

So I guess the question is,do we have any seeds among thorns in our life? Or do we have any bad habits? Are there weeds popping up in our lives or in our hearts? Each one of these points us in the direction to seek the Lord. When we break up fallow ground we bring our hearts and minds to Him so we can receive the healing power of the Word of God into our lives and circumstances. In this day and age our hearts can get so matted down and heavy, they can become hardened and dry that’s when we know we need to break up the fallow ground.

To break up fallow ground in our hearts and minds, we must begin to look inward and examine our hearts. We need to understand exactly where we are. This requires work on our part. We need to take a good hard look at our lives, our habits, the things that we’ve allowed to sneak in. Are we complaining too much? Do we gossip? Not spending time with the Lord regularly? Do we have some kind of addiction or bad habit?

In first Peter 1:13 it says “So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift coming when Jesus arrives.” That means we have a part to do. We have to dig in, roll our sleeves up, put our mind in gear, and do our part. Then we will be ready to receive everything He has for us. I think so often we want God to fix everything that is wrong in our lives when sometimes some of the things are our doing and we need to do our part to fix it. He’s not a genie in a bottle, and He’s NOT going to do what we can do. Sometimes we think were waiting on the Lord, when in actuality He is waiting on us. So dig in precious one, roll your sleeves up, get your mind in gear and get busy plowing your fallow ground because God is waiting to pour out blessings on your life.

Hosea 10:12 says “plow new ground for yourself, plant righteousness, and reap the blessings that your devotion to me will produce. It is time for you to turn to me, your Lord, and I will come and pour out blessings upon you.”
